As a Media Arts

As a student navigating the world, I'm excited to share my experiences, insights and learned a lesson with you. My high school journey took an unexpected turn when I got transferred to the Special Program in the Arts (SPA). I discovered my passion for Media Arts, which became the discipline that stuck with me. I'm looking forward to sharing my story and the lesson I've learned along the way.

Media Arts isn't a walk in the park, but it's also not insurmountable- the key is having a genuine passion for it. When choosing your discipline, it's crucial to pick something that truly resonates with you, making the journey more enjoyable and rewarding.

When I started my journey in Media Arts, photography and filming were the first topics I learned about. Our first task was capturing a photo using the rule of third, and we also made our own music video.

Recital is a program exclusive to SPA learners. where every discipline prepares a presentation that aligns with their specific field. Since we're Media Arts students, we prepare a short film with a meaningful message. I was appointed as one of the actors, and I was delighted because I showcase my skills and contribute to preparing our presentation.                                                                                                                          Many students believe that SPA is extremely challenging, but I think the difficulty level really depends on the individual. If you have a genuine passion for your craft and a willingness to learn, the challenges become more manageable. For me, being in SPA has been a great experience, and I've found that the key to success lies in embracing your talents, honing your skills, and being open to growth and learning.

Unexpected moment: I got transferred in SPA

Have you ever experienced an unexpected moment? Hi, it's me again—Mikaela, the student blogger. On the first day of school in my second year, I was unexpectedly transferred to a SPA section, which truly surprised me. I was worried that they might reject or judge me because I came from the regular section. But instead, they welcomed and interacted with me warmly—completely opposite to what I had anticipated.

I found myself socializing more in my second year than ever before. The SPA students were humble, never overly proud of their section, and incredibly fun to be around. They were always willing to help or share ideas, and I eventually became comfortable enough to start expressing my own opinions.

After the pandemic, I hadn’t engaged in much social interaction—until I was transferred to the SPA department. That unexpected shift opened up a whole new chapter for me.

Where I hangout during free time in school

Hi! It’s me again—Mikaela, a student blogger. It’s really boring to sit still and do nothing interesting during my free time or breaks. Instead of wasting time just sitting in a chair, I chose to go to the library and read some books.

Every afternoon, I visited the library, and even when there was a program, I would stay there instead. Most of the books I read were about science, literature, philosophy, and social science.

After my first year in high school, things got busier, which made it harder for me to visit the library regularly. After a month passed, I stopped hanging out there altogether. Now, I’m planning to adjust my schedule so I can spend more time at the library again.

My first day as a High School Student

Hi! It’s amazing that you’re interested in my blog. My name is Mikaela B. Awangan, and I currently live in Poblacion Caraga, Davao Oriental. I study at Caraga National High School.

Okay, so what’s your first thought about high school? I'm sure you're nervous. Well, I was nervous too on my first day. I felt anxious because there were so many students, and I had to search for my classroom. My name wasn’t on any of the class lists, so I ended up joining a class with fewer students.

My very first friend in high school was Florave—she’s kind and soft-spoken, and not the type of person who gets angry easily. I also reconnected with an old classmate from elementary. It felt nice to see them again after the pandemic.

Surprisingly, the first day of high school wasn’t stressful or overwhelming—it was actually welcoming.
